Police say 30-year-old Anwar Hossain, a manager at Al Arafat Restaurant, was struck on the head with a heavy object before having his throat slit.
The body was recovered from Hossain’s room on the second floor of the restaurant on Saturday morning, said Bangshal Police Station OC Sahidur Rahman.
An employee of the restaurant found the body when they went to wake Hossain, the OC told bdnews24.com.
“We believe he was attacked at some point of the night, struck on the head with a grinding stone and killed,” he said.
Though police do not know the motive for the murder, they believe it was committed by an employee of the restaurant.
“We believe one of the employees, who has been missing since the incident, committed the murder and fled.”
Police are working to detain the employee, said Rahman.
