Dhaka, June 4 (BDNEWS) – Unilever Bangladesh Limited, a multinational corporate house, and Channel I Monday jointly launched the 'Lux-Channel I Super Star 2006' search programme to look for the heroine for a Humayun Ahmed film.
The programme was launched at a press conference at hotel Sheraton. Channel I and Impress Telefilms' MD Faridur Reza Shagar, Unilever Bangladesh's chairman Sanjiv Mehta, Brands and Development director Nowshad Chowdhury and Asiatic MCL's CEO Ali Zaker attended the inaugural ceremony.
The programme is a sequel to the last year's mega success of the super star search campaign that finally crowned youngster Shanu who superbly performed in acting, music and dance.
But this year it is quite different. Any Bangladeshi female over 18 years can participate in the competition and she has to show the best of her ability mainly in acting.
The registration period is limited as it is based on a quota system region-wise. The aspirants should enter their names as early as possible by July 19. If the quota fixed for a particular region is filled even ahead of the fixed time, the registration will be closed.
Interested candidates can register their names making a call or sending an SMS to 01199- 121 123 or through logging on to www.luxchannelisuperstar.com or www.bangladeshinfo.com
The preliminary selection of the challengers for the title will be held in the five divisional headquarters except in Sylhet. The selection for candidates from Sylhet will be held in Dhaka.
The winner will play the central female role in tele-cinema 'Daruchini Deep' (The Cinnamon Island) based upon a novel by popular writer Humayun Ahmed who will also direct the celluloid production.
The Sheraton Ballroom became the venue of the glittering stars as a number of leading showbiz faces gathered there. Busy politician Asaduzzaman Noor, gracious actor Subarna Mustafa, ever-appealing Afsana Mimi, rising stars Ishita, handsome hero Riaz, Dalywood figure Alamgir and stage personality Tarik Anam graced the occasion. Bangladesh Theatre Federation's first woman president and leading actress Sara Zaker took the first row along with Shanu, the first Lux-Channel I Super Star 2005.
