Journalist Hasanuzzaman Khan dies

Veteran journalist Hasanuzzaman Khan has died from old-age complications at at the age of 69.

He died at his own home in Mirpur’s Journalist Colony around 9pm on Sunday, his daughter Bipee Yasmin said.

Khan leaves behind his wife, Nurun Nahar, and two daughters Shapi Yasmin and Bipee Yasmin.

Funeral prayers for Khan were held at 11:30am on Monday morning.

Khan will be buried at Mirpur’s Kalshi graveyard, the family said.

Khan had been with The New Nation since its establishment. He was an assistant editor at the paper.

He also worked as a news editor at English daily The Independent. 

Khan entered journalism after completing his graduate and postgraduate degrees in history during the Pakistan regime and began working at The People.

Over the course of a long career he has worked at The Morning Sun, Bangladesh Times and many other English dailies and weekly magazines.

National Press Club President Muhammad Shafiqur Rahman and General Secretary Farida Yasmin have expressed their condolences over the passing of Khan.
