A certain group has been misusing his comment in its campaign against the government, he told a press briefing at the Awami League chief’s office on Monday, urging reporters to present his complete remarks to the people.
“I request you to not report only a part of what I said. Please report objectively my entire comment to the people. I’m sure all attempt to create confusion with my comment will fail once I receive your help.”
HT Imam in a recent comment on the national election at Jan 5 said: “I’ve been to many Upazilas for the election and have listened to our people there. They are with us … they’ve given us everything. 19 policemen died in attacks by Jamaat-e-Islami and Shibir.”
Speaking at a Bangladesh Chhatra League Rally at Dhaka University last week, he was reported saying he will ‘see’ that members of the ruling party’s student wing get government jobs after passing written tests.
The BNP has cited Imam’s comment saying it revealed the extent of politicisation in the government.
Imam in reply said, “The people who are trying to fish in muddy waters are behind this. I’ll advise them to stop their lies."
