New York, Jan 22 (bdnews24.com) -- Famous contemporary Bengali fiction writer and playwright Humayun Ahmed took his eighth chemotherapy on Saturday (local New York time), his wife Meher Afroz Shaon said.
"He has taken his eighth chemotherapy (Saturday, New York time). Doctors have now suggested a CT scan," she told bdnews24.com on Sunday.
Humayun Ahmed went to New York on Sep 13 after colon cancer was found.
He is undergoing treatment at the Memorial Sloan–Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC), a cancer treatment and research institution founded in 1884 in New York.
"We are hopeful about the treatment. Doctors have asked to do a CT scan on Jan 30. They (doctors) would decide on further actions after analysing the [CT scan] report," Shaon said.
Humayun Ahmed returned home on Saturday evening (local time) after taking his latest chemo therapy, she added.
He has rented a house in Queens and is currently staying there. He usually has to stay at least 48 hours at the hospital during a chemo cycle.
Humayun is continuing his writings amid treatment, Shaon added.
On Jan 13, Humayun was made senior special adviser to the Bangladesh Mission to the United Nations.
