Dhaka, March 28 (BDNEWS) – The High Court Monday issued a rule upon the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Dhaka to show cause as to why Salauddin Shoaib Chowdhury, arrested in a sedition case, should not be granted bail.
After hearing a petition filed on behalf of Salauddin Shoaib Chowdhury, a division bench of the High Court comprising Justice SK Sinha and Justice Shamim Hasnain passed the order.
On November 29, 2003, immigration police arrested Salauddin Shoaib Chowdhury at Zia International Airport (ZIA) while he was going to Israel for attending a seminar.
A sedition case was filed against him with ZIA police station on January 24, 2004.
The trial court earlier rejected his bail petition.
Barrister Shafique Ahmed and advocate KM Hafizul Alam moved for the petitioner before the court while additional attorney general Abdur Rezzak Khan for the government.
