Dhaka, May 31 (bdnews24.com)–The High Court has postponed a hearing on a murder case against judge-appoint Ruhul Quddus Babu.
The court gave the decision on Monday in an appeal to continue the case against Babu, who is one of the two judges-appoint not been given oath to the High Court by the chief justice.
The bench of justices Sheikh Rezwan Ali and Habibul Gani issued the order due to a government application for more time.
Attorney general Mahbubey Alam made the appeal .
He said the hearing was not necessary at the moment.
Tajul Islam opposed the government's appeal.
On April 11, Babu was appointed an additional judge to the High Court.
Rajshahi University Chhatra Shibir leader Aslam Hossain was killed in a student clash on Nov 17, 1988.
The day after that incident, Aslam's classmate Nayeb Ali had filed a murder case against 30 persons including Babu.
On Feb 15, 1989, show cause letters were sent to Babu and 17 others.
Rajshahi additional sessions judge's court approved on April 8, 2010 a government appeal to withdraw the names of nine of the suspect including Babu.
Nayeb Ali and Jinnat Ali, Aslam's father, appealed against the order on May 2, 2010.
