The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) on Tuesday sentenced to death this former Razakar commander for heinous crimes like killings, genocide, abducting, and looting during the Liberation War.
The verdict by the ICT say he be hanged or shot till death.
The 68-year-old war criminal had been absconding since the war crimes investigations began.
To appeal before the Supreme Court, Hasan Ali would have to surrender first.
After the delivery of the verdict, Shukur Khan told reporters that he believed Ali’s petition would go in his favour.
“Prosecution could not prove the allegations with absolute certainty. So, he should file for an appeal.”
According to the case documents, Hasan Ali hails from Brahmanbarhia. However, his father Syed Musleh Uddin opened a madrasah in Kishoreganj in 1936.
During the war, he was the vice chairman of East Pakistan Democratic Party and the chairman of the local Peace Committee.
At that time, Hasan Ali controlled Kishoreganj as the Razakar commander of Tarail Thana.
