Road Transport Minister Obaidul Quader announced  names during a discussion with journalists in Noakhali’s Companyganj on Friday.

“CNG-driven auto-rickshaws, auto-tempus and non-mechanised vehicles have been banned from plying on 22 highways. The decision has been taken to curb road accidents and instil traffic discipline on the highways.”

He added there were free to move on other roads.

The minister added lanes for slow-moving vehicles would be constructed alongside all major roads including the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway.
