Health Minister Mohammad Nasim told bdnews24.com that their internships have been held for six months, after which they can resume it at a different medical college hospital.

Intern doctors Nurzahan Binte Islam Naz, Md Ashikuzzaman Asif, Md Kutubuddin and MA Al Mamun will have to resume their internships at the medical college hospitals in Dinajpur, Faridpur, Jessore and Khulna respectively.

On Feb 19, Rauf Sikdar, who admitted his father at the hospital with heart trouble, was assaulted by intern doctors at the hospital.

He claimed Naz, the on-duty intern doctor, flew into rage when he asked her about where the switch for the room's fan was.

An argument broke out when intern doctor Asif arrived and assaulted Sikdar before whisking him away to another room, where he was forced to squat 100 times holding his ears.

A video footage of Sikdar doing squats went viral on the social media triggering a firestorm across the country.

Intern doctors went on a strike demanding security at workplace, but called it off 27 hours later.

On Feb 23, the health minister opened an inquiry led by Additional Secretary Habibur Rahman, which recommended punitive measures against the four intern doctors.
