Former CJ Kamaluddin dies

Former Chief Justice Kamaluddin passed away at a city hospital on Wednesday. He was 90.

Dr Ijaj Hossain told bdnews24.com his father had been undergoing cancer treatment in the United Hospital in Dhaka for the last few days. “Father died around 4:30 in the morning.”

He added the body was taken to their Gulshan house in the morning.

He said his father was expected to be buried in Banani Graveyard after offering two namaz-e-janaza (funeral prayers) at the Supreme Court premises and Gulshan’s Azad Mosque.

Kamaluddin served as the Chief Justice for five years from 1977. He was sent into retirement after HM Ershad attained power.

He had also become a Chairman of the Bangladesh Law Commission.
