There were no casualties in the fire that broke out around 10:30pm, fire-fighters said.
Fire Service and Civil Defence’s Tejgaon Station Senior Officer Tanharul Islam said the fire originated from an abandoned warehouse of the institute.
He said three fire units doused the flames at around 11:30pm.
Islam said they suspected the fire started off from a burning cigarette as the warehouse did not have electricity connection.
“Someone smoked and left the burning cigarette butt inside the warehouse. And that might have started the fire,” he said.
No account of damage was immediately available.
