Bangladesh has condemned Israel’s recently passed law targeting the acquisition of Palestinian land, describing it as an “illegal attempt” to seize occupied territories.
On Friday, at the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) executive committee meeting in Jeddah, Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman said Israel’s action seeks to alter the legal and demographic status of Palestinian land, including Al-Quds Al-Sharif.
He stressed the need to ensure Palestinians’ land rights.
Israel has approved a plan to claim large areas of the occupied West Bank as ‘state property’ if owners cannot prove title.
The move has sparked regional outrage and has been described as a new form of occupation.
Khalilur expressed concern over Israel easing land purchase procedures and opening land registration to the public, which exposes Palestinian landowners to “multiple pressures and harassment”.
He added that such measures clearly violate international law and undermine the foundations of fair and sustainable social order.
The minister reiterated the two-state solution based on pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as the capital of a sovereign Palestinian state, as the only sustainable resolution to the longstanding conflict.
He also called for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and unimpeded access for international humanitarian aid.
