The Supreme Court on Tuesday found Molla guilty of murders and other war crimes and ordered his execution, converting his life sentence to the maximum punishment possible
The International Crimes Tribunal-2 had on Feb 5 sentenced Molla to life imprisonment for his role during the country's Liberation War against Pakistan in 1971.
Both the convict and the prosecution had filed appeals.
Faridpur residents expressed satisfaction over the verdict, demanding the immediate implementation of the sentence.
“After the previous verdict of life sentence, Qader Molla’s repugnant behaviour of showing a victory sign peeved the freedom fighters. Now we are happy,” said Noor Md Babul, commander of the Faridpur Muktijoddha Sangshad.
