Extremists kill 2 including a BNP leader in Kushtia

Kushtia, June 28 (BDNEWS) – Two persons, including a BNP leader who is a UP member, were killed and another injured by extremists at Sadarpur union of Mirpur upazila in Kushtia Tuesday night.
The deceased were identified as Hazrat Ali (30), president of Kakiladah ward BNP and a member of local union parishad, and Aktar Hossain (24), a source of Janajuddha, an extremist group, of Musainagar village.
Police and local sources said that a group of 8-10 masked men brandishing weapons kidnapped Aktar Hossain from his village. They took him to Sagarkhali Saifun dam, cut his wrists and hacked him to death.
The miscreants also opened fire on Shahjahan (40), son of Iasin Ali of Goabaria village, while he tried to flee. Bullet wounded Shahjahan was admitted to Kushtia General Hospital.
The group later went to Kakiladah village and opened fire at the house of Enamul Haq, son of Ismail Malitha. Enamul was fortunate as the bullets hit his shadow on the mirror of a dressing table.
After that, the assailants went to the house of Hazrat Ali, who was watching the football match between Brazil and Ghana. The terrorists fired three bullets at him and Hazrat died on the spot.
A tense situation was prevailing in the areas.
Purba Banglar Communist Party (M-L) Lal Pataka claimed the responsibility of the incidents.
Police suspected that the killings took place over establishing supremacy in the area.
