They may carry a handset that does not have a camera, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said at a media briefing on Tuesday.
"No one except the centre secretary will be allowed to carry mobile phone inside the centre. The centre secretary may carry a phone only to keep in touch with us," he told reporters at the Secretariat.
"Nowadays, it is a trend to click photos on mobile phones and share them instantly. We have clearly announced that teachers will not be allowed to bring phones to the centre premises.
"The centre secretary may carry one ordinary phone but has to keep it at the office room and use it when necessary," he said adding that all the education boards have been briefed over the order.
"Any device or gadget other than calculators is not allowed inside the centres," said Nahid' requesting everyone to follow the instructions.
This year, 1,786,613 students are taking the SSC and equivalent exams which will be held at 3,236 centres throughout Bangladesh.
The education minister ruled out the possibility of question leaks this time and called upon parents and students not to be fooled by "fake questions".
Some people leak questions only to create hassle for the government while many sell it for money, he added.
"Please notify the control room if you find fake questions uploaded on a website. We have talked with the BTRC. They will shut down the link immediately."
