Dhaka, March 29 (bdnews24.com) - Ekushey Television will resume transmission Friday, an ETV statement said Thursday.
Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission regularised the use of terrestrial frequency for television broadcasting Thursday, the statement said.
A senior official of the BTRC told bdnews24.com that ETV has to pay altogether an estimated Tk 30 crore to the BTRC as frequency charge.
"ETV has to pay a fee of Tk. 15 crore in arrears and additional Tk. 15 crore to commence operations within 15 days for terrestrial broadcasting," said the BTRC official requesting anonymity.
ETV chairman Abdus Salam was off to a meeting when bdnews24.com tried to contact him.
When contacted, Atiqul Haque Chowdhury, director of programmes of the television, declined to say anything beyond the press statement.
