Dhaka, July 13(bdnews24.com)—The Shahidullah Hall Debating Club at Dhaka University on Tuesday observed the 41st death anniversary of the scholar Dr Muhammad Shahidullah through a series of programmes.
A commemorative meeting took place at the hall's auditorium on Tuesday afternoon.
At the meeting, professor (emeritus) Anisuzzaman said, "Dr Shahidullah was a true Muslim, non-communal and tolerant. A person like him is very rare nowadays."
Chaired by the debating club president, Shahadat Hossain Roni, the occasion was also attended by DU pro-vice chancellor Dr Harun-or-Rashid, Shahidullah Hall provost Dr Azizur Rahman and professor Jinat Imtiaj Ali.
Later a friendly debate was organised at the auditorium with the participation of current and former debaters.
Dr Shahidullah was born on July 10, 1885 and passed away on July 13, 1969.
