Dhaka, June 26 (BDNEWS) – Rotary Club of Metropolitan Dhaka (RCMD) has chosen Dr Zobaida Hannan for its prestigious Science, Education and Economic Development (SEED) award for the year 2005 for her outstanding contribution to education and economic development of the country.
RCMD president Najma Khan said it at a press conference at the National Press Club.
The RCMD will honour Dr Zobaida Hannan with a cash reward of Tk 150,000, a gold medal worth Tk 50,000 and a citation for the award at its annual installation ceremony at Hotel Sheraton on July 24.
"The SEED award of distinction has been introduced by Rotary Club of Metropolitan Dhaka in recognition of the original, outstanding and significant contributions made by those notable and worthy citizens of Bangladesh in the fields of science, education and economic development that has benefited our nation and its people." Najma Khan said.
She informed that the RCMD Foundation has till today provided about Tk 14 lakh for the SEED award and Tk eight lakh and 30 thousand for club project.
Former RCMD presidents Ashfaque Ahmed Khan, Dr Anwar Hossain, Dr Mohammad Ahsan and Farid Hossain, Abu Afsarul Haider, elected president for 2005-2006, RCMD members Jaglul Ahmed Chowdhury and Khaleda Akhand were present at the press conference.
