Chittagong, Feb 21 (bdnews24.com)—The Chittagong City Corporation Thursday posthumously awarded six people with Ekushey honour for their contribution to society.
Acting Chittagong mayor M Manzur Alam handed the medals over to the members of their families at the port city's Theatre Institute.
Prof Dr Abdul Karim was awarded for his contribution to education while Fazal Karim for social service, Sharif Raza for journalism, Shefali Ghosh for music, MA Aziz and Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury for their roles in the War of Liberation.
Prof Karim's son Aminul Islam received his father's medal while Aziz's son Saifuddin Khaled, Zahur Chowdhury's son Helal Uddin Chowdhury, Fazal Karim's wife Roushan Ara Begum, Sharif Raza's son Imran Sharif and Shefali Ghosh's husband Nani Gopal Dutta received the awards.
