Case filed over Comilla University student’s death in BCL factional clash

Comilla University authorities have lodged a case over the death of a student during a clash between factions of the Awami League’s student wing on the campus.

Marketing department’s Khalid Saifullah died at the Comilla Medical College Hospital early morning Monday.

He succumbed to gunshot injuries sustained during the clash that broke out just after midnight.

Khalid was the organising secretary of a residential hall unit for the Bangladesh Chhatra League's (BCL) Comilla University chapter.

The university’s Security Officer Md Sadek Hossain Majumder filed a case with the police on Monday night over the death.

Sub-Inspector Khademul Bahar said that the case accused ‘100 to 150 unidentified persons.’

The university has been closed indefinitely after the incident and students have left the campus by Monday afternoon.

“All academic activities have been suspended until further notice,” acting Proctor Md Ainul Haque told bdnews24.com.
