Cabinet okays ‘Mymensingh Division’

The government has cleared a proposal to declare Mymensingh as Bangladesh’s eighth administrative division.

It asked the proposal to be sent to National Implementation Committee on Administrative Reforms (NICAR) for a final decision.

The clearence was given in the Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Cabinet Secretary Musharraf Hossain Bhuiyan said on Monday.

The NICAR will now decide on the size and the number of districts to be included in Mymensingh division, Bhuiyan told reporters.
