A Bangladeshi migrant has died in a road accident in Portugal.
The victim, 32-year-old Kanu Roy, was a resident of Pirkashimpur village in Cumilla’s Muradnagar Upazila.
He had been living in the Vila Nova de Milfontes area of Portugal for nearly eight years, working at a local restaurant.
Faruk Sikdar, a local businessman and community leader, said the accident occurred on Sunday night while Kanu was returning home from work on his motorcycle.
A car reportedly struck him from behind, leaving him critically injured.
Kanu was rushed to a local hospital, where he died while undergoing treatment.
Repeated attempts to contact the Bangladesh Embassy in Lisbon for comment were unsuccessful.
Kanu had moved to Europe in search of better prospects and is survived by his parents, three brothers, and two sisters back home in Bangladesh.
