A fire at a computer market in the Elephant Road area of Dhaka has been brought under control.

Ten fire engines were rushed to the scene after the fire erupted on the fourth floor of the nine-storey Sheltech Sierra Computer City near the Bata Signal intersection around 7:30pm on Monday.

It took two hours for the fire service to tame the flames, said Anwarul Haque, a spokesman for the Fire Service and Civil Defence.

There were no reports of casualties among the people in the building as the firefighters rescued six trapped in the building, he said.

A member of the fire service was injured and sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

The fire service could not immediately determine the cause of the fire.
