Its vice-chairperson and former foreign secretary Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury in his immediate reaction told journalists that they considered as ‘positive’ steps that boosted bilateral relations between Bangladesh and the US.
He said the two countries have had a long relationship in “trade, economic, technical, military and political aspects”.
“All steps should be taken to strengthen the multi-dimensional relationship with the US,” he said, stressing that the BNP wanted to make this relationship “more intense” if it came to power.
Bangladesh signed the much-talked about Trade and Investment Co-operation Framework Agreement (TICFA) with the US on Monday in Washington, creating a forum for bilateral talks on labour and trade issues.
