Sheuli was travelling to her village home after hearing news of her father’s death on Eid day

A woman injured in a road accident while returning home to Jhalakathi’s Nalchity from Dhaka after hearing the news of her father's death on Eid day has died while undergoing treatment at the hospital.

She died at Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital in Barishal on Saturday morning, said Nalchity Police Station chief Ariful Alam.

The deceased, Sheuli, 40, was the daughter of Motaleb Howlader of Sarmahal village in Kushangal Union of Nalchiti Upazila.

The death of both father and daughter within a day has cast a shadow of grief over the village.

According to police and locals, Motaleb Howlader, 80, died at his home on Thursday evening, on Eid day, due to illness. After receiving news of his death, his daughter Sheuli left Dhaka for her village home that night.

However, she was seriously injured in a head-on collision between an autorickshaw and a Mahindra (local three-wheeler) in the Kadamtali area of Barishal on Friday morning. Later, locals rescued her and took her to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital.

She died on Saturday morning while undergoing treatment there.

Police officer Ariful said that the incident has been reported to the concerned police station and the cause of the accident is being investigated.
