Six employees of the second phase of the Identification System for Enhancing Access to Services, or IDEA, project have been dismissed after evidence of their involvement in “unethical activities” related to the correction of National Identity, or NID, cards.

Separate orders were issued on Thursday relieving them of their duties.

The six employees are—Data Entry Operator Mahbubur Rahman, Office Assistant-cum-Computer Operators Md Bulbul Ahmed and Md Sojib Ahmed, and Office Assistants Md Nuruzzaman, Md Julfikar Ali, and Sardar Abul Kalam Pavel.

The separate orders from the second phase of the IDEA project said they were dismissed after allegations of involvement in NID correction irregularities and other “unethical activities” were proven.

Earlier in January, a sub-district election officer and a data entry operator in Sunamganj’s Jagannathpur were suspended after being caught taking bribes to fraudulently register voters.
