He said this while talking to reporters at an annual police sports event at Rajarbagh, in Dhaka, on Sunday afternoon.

Asked why tunnel heists was recurring in Sonali Bank, the junior minister said the matter was being looked into.

A group of miscreants decamped with over Tk three million from a Sonali Bank branch at Bogra’s Adamdighi Upazila after digging a tunnel from an adjacent furniture shop to the bank’s vault.

Earlier, on Jan 26, a tunnel was also used to rob Tk 169 million from the vault of the Sonali Bank head office in Kishoreganj.

The state minister said: “Tk 160 million stolen in Kishoreganj was recovered within 72 hours (of the incident). The criminals involved in this (Bogra) heist will also be caught soon.”

To a question about the armed clashes between supporters of two Upazila chairman candidates at Shripur in Gazipur, Kamal said several of the armed men had been arrested.

“The rest will be caught, too, no matter which party they belonged to.”

“Nobody will be spared. Nobody is above the law,” he said.
