Bangla Academy awards for 2014 announced

The Bangla Academy has announced Literary Award 2014 in seven categories.

The winners are Shihab Sarkar for poetry, Zakir Talukder for fiction, Shantanu Kayser for essays, Bhuyian Iqbal for research, Abu Mohammad Delwar Hossain for literature on the Liberation War, Moyn Us Sultan for travelogue and Khaleque bin Zainuddin for children’s literature.

Bangla Academy Director General Shamsuzzaman Khan announced the names of the awardees in a press conference on Thursday.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to hand over the awards at the inauguration of the Amar Ekushey Book Fair on Feb 1.

No one has been selected for translation, drama, science, technology, and environment categories this year.
