Dhaka, Aug 26 (BDNEWS) – The identity of Bailey road is changed as the road is now officially named as 'Natok Saroni'.
From now on, the road will be recognised as 'Natok Saroni' to maintain the tradition of drama in the capital.
DCC mayor Sadek Hossain Khoka unveiled the plaque of the Saroni Friday in presence of renowned dramatists, DCC officials and commissioners.
Later, the mayor inaugurated the national conference of Group Theatre Federation at the stage of 'Mohila Samity' of Natok Saroni.
Renowned playwright Sayed Ahmed was present there as the chief guest. Secretary general Liakat Ali Lucky, Ramendu Majumdar and M Hamid, among others, spoke while federation chairman Mamunur Rashid presided over the function.
Mayor Sadek Hossain Khoka urged the dramatists and cultural activists to come forward for the development of healthy cultural environment in the country.
He also mentioned the positive role of the dramatists in the liberation war and anti-autocracy movement.
