The Muharram moon was not sighted in the country Wednesday, the Islamic Foundation said Wednesday in a press statement. The Hijri year 1429 will be counted from January 11 and the Ashura will be observed on Jan 20, a meeting National Moon-Sighting Committee said.

The first day of Hijri year 1429 will be counted from January 11 and the Ashura will be observed on Jan 20, a meeting National Moon-Sighting Committee said Wednesday.

Vice president of the committee and secretary to religious affairs ministry Muhammad Ataur Rahman chaired the meeting.
