Ambulance crosses Padma

The ambulance carrying the corpse of Abdul Quader Molla has crossed the river Padma and reached Madaripur’s Shibchar ferry station.

The station is 60 minutes’ drive from his ancestral home at Faridpur where he would be buried.

Magistrate of Faridpur district Md Mamum Shiblee told bdnews24.com the ambulance reached there at 2am on Friday.

Molla will be buried at his ancestral graveyard at Amirabad in Faridpur Sadar.

The Jamaat-e-Islami leader was hanged at 10:01am on Thursday night at Dhaka Central Jail for war crimes and the ambulance left at around 11:14pm.

Security personnel are accompanying the vehicle to avert any possible violence.

Eight police vehicles and two each of RAB and BGB were escorting the black ambulance.
