Dhaka, July 26 (BDNEWS) – Energy Division has recommended to the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) for taking action against three officials of Meghna Petroleum, a subsidiary of state-run Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation.
Officials said that the request was made on completion of investigation into allegations of corruption and irregularities committed by the Meghna officials.
The accused are Ashfaqul Haq, in-charge of Godnail depot, Mahbub Un Noor, in-charge of Fatullah depot and Faruquzzaman Biswas, super and deputy general manager of Baghabari depot.
The officials said that there are allegations of misappropriation of money against them.
According to sources, they sold fuel oils on credit although there is a bar in this kind of selling. Also, the money was not deposited.
Ashfaqul Haq and Mahbub Un Noor were suspended following an audit report.
Faruquzzaman's case was a bit different. He sold oils on credit, but deposited the money from his own bank accounts.
He has been transferred to the BPC head office in Chittagong.
Energy Advisor Mahmudur Rahman has said that the companies of the Energy Division are running transparently. "Still, if there is any allegation, action will be taken on the basis of investigation."
He said that the Energy Division itself sent papers and documents to the ACC for action against the three officials.
"It is a new example," said Mahmudur Rahman.
