Dhaka, Aug 12 (bdnews24.com)- Charge have been pressed against local film industry figure and Dhaka City Corporation commissioner Monwar Hossain Dipjol and wife Romana Monwar, on charges of earning illegal wealth and giving false information to the anticorruption commission.
ACC assistant director Md Talebur Rahman submitted the charge sheets Tuesday with the chief metropolitan magistrate's court against the accused, mentioning that Dipjol has been sentenced to 17 years and eight years in two separate arms cases.
Romana was sentenced to three years and eight years in the same two cases. She is now out on bail, while her husband remains fugitive.
The ACC charges that Dipjol concealed information about assets worth Tk 3.02 crore in a wealth statement, and he and his wife amassed Tk 5.15 crore in illegal wealth.
The case was filed with Mirpur police on Dec 3 last year.
