Dhaka, Nov 27 (bdnews24.com) – Md Abdul Aziz has been appointed secretary to the Cabinet Division, the establishment ministry said in a statement.
Aziz, who was serving as secretary to the agriculture ministry, took charge of his new office on Thursday.
The tenure of incumbent cabinet secretary, Ali Imam Majumder, expires on Nov 28, but as it falls on the weekend, he bid bye on Thursday.
Aziz, who stood first in BCS cadre (administration) in 1979, has also been secretary to the ministries of water resources and education, and a member of the Planning Commission.
Aziz got his promotion as a secretary in 2005. He worked as an acting secretary at the water resources ministry six months before the promotion.
He is due to go on preparatory leave for retirement on Sept. 30, 2009.
The immediate past caretaker government led by president Iajuddin Ahmed appointed Ali Imam Majumder as cabinet secretary on Dec 6, 2006.
His job expired in Nov. 2007 but the emergency government reappointed him for one year on contract.
