The number of deaths linked to measles in Sylhet Division has reached 76, with two more children dying with symptoms of the dis

The children died while undergoing treatment at separate hospitals, according to Noore Alam Shamim, divisional director at Health Office Sylhet.

One of the dead, 7-month-old baby Saihan, passed away at Shaheed Shamsuddin Ahmed Hospital.

The other, 5-month-old Ahiyan, died at Osmani Hospital.

According to a report from the Sylhet Divisional Director of Health Office, 261 patients with measles symptoms were receiving treatment at hospitals across the division in the 24 hours to 8am on Friday.

During the same period, another 69 suspected measles patients were admitted to hospitals.

Since Jan 1, laboratory tests have confirmed measles infection in 327 people across Sylhet Division.

The division has recorded 72 deaths among people with symptoms, four of them confirmed measles cases.
