Bangladesh captured from above at Drone Photo Awards 2023

The annual Drone Photo Awards, a part of the Siena awards festival of visual arts showcasing aerial photography, has announced this year's winning and commended entries. Nine single images and a photo story submitted by seven Bangladeshi photographers have earned plaudits in various categories.

Md Asker Ibne Firoz’s ‘Decreasing Green Spaces’ was a highly commended entry in the Urban category of this year's Drone Photo Awards. The photo was shot at Mohammadpur's Bihari Camp. Two of Firoz’s images were featured at this year's event.

‘Traditional Boli Khela’ (traditional wrestling) by Muhammad Amdad Hossain earned a commendation in the Sports category of this year's Drone Photo Awards. The photo of ‘Jabbarer Boli Khela’ - a traditional wrestling competition – was snapped at the historical Laldighi ground in Chattogram.

Mahat Hasan’s ‘National Game of Kabaddi’ received a commendation in the Sports category of this year's Drone Photo Awards.

‘Traditional Boat Race’ by Md Asker Ibne Firoz received a commendation in the Sports category of this year's Drone Photo Awards. The photo was taken in the Kotalipara area of Gopalganj on the occasion of Durga Puja, the biggest annual festival for Hindus.

Musfiqur Rahman’s ‘The Boat Race’ received a commendation in the Sports category of this year's Drone Photo Awards.

‘Football Fans’ by Muhammad Mostafigur Rahman, bdnews24.com's Head of News Photography, earned a commendation in the 'People' category of this year's Drone Photo Awards. The photograph captures a crowd of football lovers at Dhaka University’s Haji Muhammad Mohsin Hall absorbed in the encounter between Argentina and Poland at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Md Tanveer Hassan Rohan’s ‘Jummah Prayer on Highway’ received a commendation in the People category of this year's Drone Photo Awards. Rohan captured the scene of a Friday prayer congregation on the first day of Bishwa Ijtema in Gazipur’s Tongi.

‘Bangabazar Fire’ by Azim Khan Ronnie received a commendation in the People category of this year's Drone Photo Awards. The photo depicts a horrific blaze engulfing Dhaka’s Bangabazar in April.
