Employees subject to separate instructions from the central bank on travelling overseas will have to abide by them

Bangladesh Bank has lifted an overseas travel ban on employees of non-banking financial institutions (NBFI) after 34 months.
The central bank issued a circular and sent it to managing directors and chief executive officers of all financial institutions on Monday.
The ban was imposed on NBFI employees in May 2022. Midway into the year, Bangladesh was hit by a dollar crisis, leading to record-high prices in the open market.
The directive noted that on May 29, 2022, financial institution employees were asked to refrain from traveling abroad to participate in training, study tours, exposure visits, meetings, and seminars.
These officers can now travel overseas for official visits with the approval of the relevant authorities.
However, officials at financial institutions who are subject to separate Bangladesh Bank instructions regarding international travel abroad must comply with those guidelines.
