Govt appoints new DGs to 11 departments, new chairmen to 3 authorities

The reshuffle includes the Directorate General of Food and the Department of Environment, while three authorities have also been given new chairmen

The government has appointed new directors general to 11 departments and agencies, including the Directorate General of Food and the Department of Environment, as part of an ongoing administrative shake-up.

New chairmen have also been appointed to three authorities.

The Ministry of Public Administration issued the notifications on Sunday.

Since taking office, the BNP government has been making appointments and reshuffling senior officials across government institutions, law enforcement agencies and other public offices.

The latest round of changes has now reached the top posts of those departments, agencies and authorities.

According to the notice, Md Jasim Uddin Khan, an additional secretary at the Home Ministry, has been appointed director general of the Directorate General of Food.

Md Lutfor Rahman, an additional secretary at the agriculture ministry, has been made director general of the Department of Environment.

MM Arif Pasha, an additional secretary at the land ministry, has been appointed director general of the Department of Agricultural Marketing.

Md Abdullah Al-Mamun, director of the Department of Disaster Management and an additional secretary, has been made director general of the National Freedom Fighters Council.

Kazi Mohammad Saiful Islam, an additional secretary at the home ministry, has been appointed director general of the Bureau of Non-Formal Education.

Khondkar Anwar Hossain, a director at the Barishal Divisional Commissioner’s Office, has been made director general of the Department of Youth Development.

Md Asaduzzaman, a director at the Government Housing Directorate, has been appointed director general of the Wage Earners’ Welfare Board.

Dil Afroz, an additional secretary at the civil aviation and tourism ministry, has been made director general of the Directorate General of Nursing and Midwifery.

ASM Mustafizur Rahman, additional director general of the Bangladesh Employees Welfare Board, has been appointed director general of the Department of Patents, Designs and Trademarks.

Abul Hasnat Muhammad Anwar Pasha, an additional secretary at the Planning Division, has been made director general of the National Identity Registration Wing of the Election Commission Secretariat.

Delwar Hossain, an additional secretary at the Financial Institutions Division, has been appointed director general of the Governance Innovation Unit.

Hasan Mahmud, an additional secretary at the railways ministry, has also been made registrar general of the Office of the Registrar General, Birth and Death Registration.

In separate appointments, Raja Md Abdul Hai, additional director general of the Directorate of Primary Education, has been made chairman of the Non-Government Teachers’ Registration and Certification Authority.

Md Shafiqul Islam, project director of a rural road bridge and culvert construction project and an additional secretary, has been appointed chairman of the Bangladesh Food Safety Authority.

Mohammad Habibur Rahman, an additional secretary at the water resources ministry, has been made chairman of the National Housing Authority.
