The blaze at the busy wholesale market has left shoppers in distress amid peak Ramadan shopping season

A fire has broken out at a fabric warehouse in Terry Bazar, one of Chattogram’s largest wholesale clothing markets.
The fire started around 7:30pm on Sunday on the first floor of a six-storey building named Khwaja Bipani, according to the Control Room of Agrabad Fire Service.
Md Abdullah, deputy assistant director of the Fire Service, told bdnews24.com that six units from three fire stations were working to contain the blaze.
"The fire broke out on the first floor of a building housing shops and warehouses. The cause of the fire and the extent of damage are yet to be determined," he said.
As of 8:30pm, the fire was still not under control.
The incident has caused distress among shoppers in the busy commercial hub, which is experiencing high footfall due to the Ramadan shopping season.
