The government has appointed former senior officials to three bodies, including the NGO Affairs Bureau, on one-year contracts at secretary rank.

The Ministry of Public Administration issued separate notifications on Saturday announcing the appointments.

Mohammad Zakaria has been named director general of the NGO Affairs Bureau, Safiz Uddin Ahmed has been appointed Waqf administrator at the Bangladesh Waqf Administration Office, and Abdullah Al Baki has been made chairman of the Land Appeal Board.

According to the notifications, the appointments have been made under Section 49 of the Government Service Act, 2018, for one year from the date of joining.

The officials will have to sever ties with any other profession, business or employment with any government, semi-government, private institution or organisation before taking up the posts.

Zakaria previously served as an additional secretary at the Election Commission.
