All divisions in the country, aside from Rajshahi, will see some rain this week, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department.
After that, temperatures will start to rise.
Following this period of rain and heat, Bangladesh may start to feel the effect of winter around mid-November.
Meteorologist Abul Kalam Mollik said on Wednesday afternoon: “There may be a little less rain in Rajshahi. Aside from that, there might be one or two showers throughout the day in all other divisions until Oct 11. It will start to get hotter after that.”
“However, the forecast does not indicate that winter will immediately follow the rain. We may start to feel the winter chill around the middle of November.”
The regular BMD bulletin on Monday said that the monsoon wind is still fairly active over Bangladesh, with the trough running through Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across central parts of Bangladesh. It remains moderate over the north bay.
Under its influence, many parts of the Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and some parts of the Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram divisions may see temporary gusty winds and light to moderate rain or thundershowers.
Some parts of the country may also experience moderate to heavy rain.
Day and night temperatures across the country may rise slightly.
Bhola saw 104 mm of rain, the most in the country in the 24 hours to 9am on Monday. Tarash saw 38 mm of rain and Rajshahi saw 35 mm, according to BMD data.
Feni recorded a temperature of 34.5 degrees Celsius, the highest in the country over the period. The lowest was in Panchagarh’s Tetulia, where the temperature dipped to 23.3 degrees Celsius.
The water level of the Bhogai River in Mymensingh, which was flowing above the danger level for several days, has started to decrease. However, the Someshwari River is now flowing above its danger limit.
According to the regular bulletin from the Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre, the water levels of the Jinjiram River in the Mymensingh Division and the Old Brahmaputra’s rivers and streams are starting to rise.
