A madrasa student has been allegedly “sexually harassed” during her visit to a studio in the Gazipur city for taking photographs.
The incident occurred at “Studio Zilik” in the city’s Bhogra Madhyapara area on Sunday evening, said Bason Police Station Sub-InspectorI Mohammad Ali.
The fifth-grader lives with her parents in a rented house in the area.
Police have arrested the studio’s employee, 28-year-old Hasan, a Patuakhali native who was identified with a single name, in connection with the incident.
The father of the madrasa student said, "The girl went to the studio near their house in the evening to take photographs for educational purposes. As she did not return after half an hour, I went there. The studio owner wasn't there. The door of the room inside the studio was slightly closed.”
He saw his daughter being sexually harassed after entering the room, the victim’s father alleged.
“Hasan then apologised to me. Police took him into custody when contacted."
Stating that the girl is also in police custody, SI Ali said: "Hasan was detained at around 7:30pm and brought to the police station. He is also being interrogated. Procedure to take legal action in this regard is under way.”
