Inmate escape: Kashimpur women's jail super transferred, jailer suspended

Authorities act after an inquiry finds negligence in security duties

The superintendent of Kashimpur Female’s Cental Jail has been transferred and its jailer temporarily suspended after a convicted female inmate escaped from the prison.

The action followed an inquiry that found negligence in the discharge of their duties, according to the Security Services Division of the home ministry.

Based on those findings, disciplinary action was recommended to the authorities.

Superintendent Kawalin Nahar had been attached to the Rajshahi Divisional Prison Office, while jailer Shirin Akhter had been suspended under the Government Service Act, 2018, it said on Tuesday.
