Dhaka, Sept 21 (BDNEWS) – The preliminary estimates have shown that about 51.83 billion cubic feet (BCF) of gas was burnt in two blowouts at Tengratila gas field.
Besides, the loss in respect of environmental hazards was estimated at Tk 35.48 crore.
Health Minister Dr Khandakar Mosharraf Hossain, who looks after the Energy and Mineral Resources Division in Parliament, told the House while replying to Mashiur Rahman Ranga of Jatiya Party during the question hour on Wednesday.
Replying to Maulana Abdul Aziz of Jamaat, the minister said that the overdue gas bills of different state organisations stood at Tk 858 crore.
The arrear from Power Development Board (PDB) alone is Tk 488.31 crore while from Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation Tk 144.37 crore, BCIC Tk 188.8 crore, BJMC Tk 20.68 crore, BTMC Tk 6.57 crore, BSEC 6.96 crore, BADC Tk 1.26 crore, Biman 71 lakh and WASA 36 lakh.
Replying to Mian Golam Parwar of Jamaat, the minister informed that Petrobangla signed agreements with Cairn Energy Plc and Holland Sea Search for oil and gas exploration in the Bay.
