Gazipur factory fire spreads to nearby warehouses, six units deployed

Firefighters from three stations have joined the operation

A fire has erupted at a “jhut” or waste fabric warehouse in Gazipur city, prompting a large response from the Fire Service to bring the blaze under control.

The incident occurred around 4:15pm on Thursday in Kathaltala of Dewaliabari in the city, said Saiful Islam, warehouse inspector of the Konabari Modern Fire Station.

Fire Service officials said the blaze was first spotted in the afternoon and quickly spread to neighbouring warehouses.

Two units from the Konabari station rushed to the scene after receiving the alert.

As the intensity of the fire increased, four more units from the Sarabo and Kashimpur stations were dispatched to assist.

Firefighters continued efforts to control the blaze until 7:30pm.

"Six units are working to tame the flames,” said officer Saiful.
