31 HC benches reconstituted

Thirty-one benches of the High Court have been restructured.

Dhaka, Oct 21 (bdnews24.com) – Thirty-one benches of the High Court have been restructured.
Newly appointed chief justice A B M Khairul Huq in an administrative order on Thursday reformed the benches. The order will be effective from Sunday. The High Court is also scheduled to open on the same day after vacation.
The bench of justices Abdul Wahab Mia and Kazi Rezaul Haque has been given authority to hear petitions on criminal motion and appeals.
The bench of justices Nazmun Ara Sultana and Sheikh Hasan Arif, and the bench of justices Jinat Ara and Mohammad Abu Jafar Siddique have been given authority to hear petitions on financial loan act related to Anti-corruption Commission.
Hearing of criminal motion, bail appeals and jail appeals have been allocated to the bench of justices Syed Mahmud Hossain and Gobinda Chandra Tagore, the bench of justices Mainul Islam Chowdhury and A K M Abdul Hakim, the bench of justices Siddiqur Rahman Mia and Mohammad Abdul Hai, the bench of justices Shamim Hasnain and Mohammad Rezaul Hasan, the bench of justices Syed Mohammad Ziaul Karim and Mohammad Mainul Islam Chowdhury and the bench of justices Hasan Fayez Siddique and Borhan Uddin.
The bench of justices Mohammad Iman Ali and Obaidul Hasan has been given authority to hear public interest and job affairs writ petitions.
Hearing of the Rajuk (Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha) and Securities and Exchange Commission affairs has been charged to the bench of justices Mohammad Anwarul Haque and Syed Abu Kawsar Mohammad Dabirussan, and the bench of justices A H M Shamsuddin Chowdhury and Sheikh Mohammad Zakir Hossain.
The bench of justices Mohammad Fazlur Rahman and Abdur Rob, and the bench of justices Faruk Ahmed and Mohammad Abdus Samad have been given authority to hear the bail petitions.
The bench of justices Abdul Awal and F R M Nazmul Ahsan has been given power to hear settlement court, labour court and detaintion order affairs petitions.
Hearing of VAT (value added tax), customs and tax affairs petitions has been charged to the bench of justices Tariq ul Hakim and Soumendra Sarker.
The bench of justices Jubair Rahman Chowdhury and Farah Mahbub, the bench of justices Mohammad Rezaul Haque and Mohammad Delwar Hossain have been given the power to hear the petitions on jail and criminal motion and appeals.
The single bench of justice Salma Masud Chowdhury has been given authority to hear the criminal petitions, criminal revision and reference cases.
Hearing of death reference petitions has been charged to the bench of justices Afzal Hossain Ahmed and Naima Haider, the bench of justices Mohammad Abu Tariq and M Enayetur Rahim, the bench of justices Syed Refat Ahmed and Krishna Debnath, and the bench of justices Mohammad Shamsul Huda and Abu Bakr Siddique.
The bench of justices Sharif Uddin Chaklader and Mohammad Nuruzzaman, the bench of justices Shahidul Islam and Mohammad Raisuddin, and the bench of justices Mamatazuddin Ahmed and Syeda Afsar Jahan have been given right to hear civil motion writs.
The single benches of justices Mashuk Hossain, Muhammad Abdul Hafiz, Mohammad Imdadul Haque Azad, Mohammad Ataur Rahman Khan and Mamunur Rahman have also been given power to hear the civil motion petitions.
