Dhaka, May 27 (bdnews24.com) – A Dhaka court has placed two leaders of Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami (HuJI) on a three-day remand in an explosives case filed against them.
Chief metropolitan magistrate Mohammad Tayebul Hasan on Friday granted the remand for Mohammad Abdus Salam and Mohammad Ashraful Islam following a plea for five-day remand by Savar Police Station officer-in-charge (investigation department) Matiur Rahman.
The plea mentioned that the outfit members had a strong link with some religion-based political parties who are trying to create anarchy in the country.
However, the two HuJI leaders denied the allegation during the court hearing.
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested HuJI Sylhet district unit secretary Abdus Salam, 39, and Pabna district's Ishwardi Upazila unit secretary Ashraful Islam, 30, on Wednesday night from Nobinagar, Savar.
The elite force busted a HuJI den in Kalma village of Ashulia and recovered 16 handmade bombs, 24 cocktails and bomb-making chemicals.
