Witnesses describe mob assault on 22 Hindu homes in Rangpur’s Gangachara

Residents flee homes as attackers mobilise through loudspeaker calls

At least 22 houses belonging to the Hindu community have come under attack in the village of Aldadpur Balapara in Rangpur’s Gangachara Upazila, following an allegation of blasphemy.

The assault took place on Saturday, with witnesses saying attackers used loudspeakers to rally people before storming the neighbourhood.

Fearing for their lives, residents fled their homes and took shelter in distant areas. Several homes were looted during the attack, according to multiple accounts from locals.
