Apple’s glass-heavy iPhone design, planned for the device’s 20th anniversary next year, remains on track, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.

Gurman’s report comes after Jefferies analyst Edison Lee claimed earlier that Apple had cancelled plans for an all-glass iPhone.

The 20th-anniversary iPhone will make heavy use of glass, with the front and rear panels wrapping around the edges and sandwiching a thin metal band, Gurman said.

Bloomberg reported that Apple expects to launch iPhone Pro models next year with the new glass-heavy design.

The phones, known internally as V73 and V74, will have glass on the front and back, with the material curving into the sides and a metal band in the middle, according to people familiar with the work.

Gurman also mentioned a “more aspirational version” that used even more glass, but said design was scrapped early in development.

It is possible that this more ambitious design was the one Lee referred to in his report, but Gurman said it was discarded some time ago rather than being a recent development.

Lee’s report also appeared to suggest that the all-glass design would be used for an entirely new model, saying Jefferies analysts believed Apple planned to extend the all-glass features to future iPhone Pro and Pro Max models.

There, however, has been no recent indication of such an additional model, with recent reports pointing to the glass-heavy design being intended for the Pro and Pro Max models in next year’s lineup.
